Hey Patrick, I hear ya. I wonder if FCS2's shake reduction can help - I'll have to try it out when I upgrade. For me, the vest creates a couple of problems that I don't like. 1) It draws way too much unwanted attention from practically everybody. It's very difficult to be discreet when it looks like I'm about to kick down some doors with a bulletproof vest. 2) Vest and arm is yet another box to add to the equipment list. It's also a fairly high-priced item that I don't really want to lug around all day or leave in a car. Finally, I'm sure you know how sweaty it gets under that thing - not very pleasant after 15 minutes.

Deinfitely agreed about the extra gear to carry as well as the comfort level after your wearing it for a while. For me though, bottom line is, I can't get shots anywhere near what I can do with the full rig in any other way. Not only do my moving shots get worse with a glidecam/merlin, but my really tight static shots also suffer quite a bit.

As for the attention it draws- I was concerned about that in the beginning but as I got more used to it, all the attention seemed to be positive. I can't say I have ever heard anything bad from anybody at a wedding regarding the unit - actually it hs been the complete opposite. I think a lot of it is psychological too- if you think you stand out and will draw attention, you often will- but when you thk and act like your just another part of the day, nobody really cares what kind of contraption your wearing.
