With regard to recording church audio, what works best for us now is a dual wireless combination with one lav on the groom and one at the podium. We get clear crisp audio from this setup with no church echo. I've used the MKE300 and I think it's best for other applications but it did impress me with its range.

When we're at a smaller venue and don't need dual wireless systems, we use a Senn ME66 on board but always a lav on the groom. BTW, a GL2 with Beachtek adapter, ME66 and two lav systems will cost about the same as a single PD170.
