Do you guys use this for advertising?
 

I heard from a couple of people that the swear by www.theknot.com , I didn't believe them until I saw the response it got on "The Apprentice" I think it's $75/month to place an ad under the videography section, and of course there's lots of upgrades, and a mailed booklet for even more money. I'm thinking about putting in an ad to try it, the only thing is the closest place they have listed near me is an hour and a half away. Any input, or experiences with theknot would be appreciated.

I've seen this discussed elsewhere, and it seems like people either love The Knot or hate it as an advertising venue. Personally I think they're overpriced and I don't like the organization of their vendor section: you're unlikely to get noticed unless you pay for a premium ad. I've also noticed that very few videographers in my immediate area have ads on The Knot, and one in particular I would have expected to see there doesn't appear to consider it important. If companies with much larger advertising budgets than I have don't see a need to be on The Knot then I certainly don't.

My wife says she visited The Knot frequently when we got married, but neither one of us can recall hiring any vendors as a result of her doing so. Where you can get value from The Knot is if any of your previous customers mention you favorably on the brides' forum, and that doesn't cost you anything.

I agree, we advertised on the knot for 2 years, never got any business, the forums are where people go on the knot.
