Messing w/ shutter speed
I shoot on a VX2000 and I love the look of my video when I take my shutter speed down from 1/60 to 1/30...It gives the video a little more blur during motion and as a bonus, increases the low light capibility of my camera. However I'm afraid I might be sacrificing picture quality by doing this. Anyone using this method???

Yes you might very well be sacrificing at least some resolution.
Also it might blur things a bit too much? Ie, the footage is not sharp enough? But if it works for your eyes and your clients then I'd say it is good enough... |

From what I have read, with the camera you are using, amd other sony models, the resolution is cut by 50% when shooting in 60i at 1/30 compared to 1/60. |
Be careful if you are shooting under florescent lighting and using a shutter speed other than 60 (US 60Hz lights). I recently shot inside a mobile trailer with a shutter speed of 100 and the lights caused an effect like the white balance was constantly changing.
Setting the shutter speed back to 60 solved the problem. |
