Thank you, and congrats to all of the other filmakers who were selected. It's very humbling and a great honor to have been included on a list with such amazing talents.

Aaron Mayberry February 23rd, 2010 12:08 PM

Awesome job guys. I really enjoy everyone's work who is on the this list :)

I'd say those are good choices. I would add Elysium, Bliss, Ron Dawson, Bruce Patterson, Chris P Jones and Joshua Smith as sure things, which still leaves a few spots open.

Congrats to everyone who made the list.

John De Rienzo February 24th, 2010 09:37 AM

Great list so far, congratulations to you all. Well deserved.

Would be nice to see some brits making this list again....we are not all that bad you know! :)

Cheers.

Stephen J. Williams February 24th, 2010 01:58 PM

Congrats guys and thanks for setting the bar high for the rest of us :-)

Steve

Dimitris Mantalias February 24th, 2010 02:14 PM

Bravo to all the guys!

Michael Simons February 24th, 2010 04:50 PM

Does how much a bride spends on her video contribute to which videographers win these awards? I'm certain that if a bride had $50 Million dollars, Steven Speilberg would win all these awards. The average price for a video in my area is probably $2,000. Are any of the winners producing videos in that price range?

Travis Cossel February 24th, 2010 05:06 PM

How much brides spend has no bearing on the EventDV 25 list. The list is entirely comprised of peer voting.

That said, I know Kevin Shahinian is producing some concept videos that are $20k and up, but most of us are in the $3k-6k average. For the record, Steven Speilberg couldn't hack filming weddings .. yeah .. I said it. d;-)

Susanto Widjaja February 24th, 2010 06:39 PM

CONGRATS GUYS!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!

Travis: gotta love your new signature down the bottom lol ;p

Santo

Travis Cossel February 24th, 2010 09:07 PM

I figured I better get some good mileage out of it, lol!

Louis Maddalena February 24th, 2010 09:22 PM

Of course, probably would look good at the bottom of your website and in your bio as well.

Congratulations Travis, your inclusion on the list was well deserved. The time and effort you spend with your helpful input on DvInfo makes you uniquely stand out on the list. Many of us appreciate it.

Travis Cossel February 24th, 2010 11:30 PM

Louis - already there .. well except for the bio I guess. d;-)

Jim - thanks so much for saying that. I'm active in a number of forums and I always try hard to be a very active contributor, but DVinfo was where I got my start so I guess it just holds a special place for me. Again, thanks for saying that and please know it's always been my pleasure to help out around here.

So then it's like congratulating the Yankees for winning the World Series, even though they buy the trophy.

Travis Cossel February 25th, 2010 11:08 AM

Well, I suppose it would be if people bought votes, but people don't buy votes .. so I guess it's nothing like that. d;-)

Joel Peregrine February 25th, 2010 12:06 PM

Conspicuously missing: Don Pham, Bruce Patterson, Glen Elliott, Steve Zugelter, Ron Dawson, Josh Smith, Jeff Wright, Julie Hill and Laura Randall.

Wish were included: Michael Gebben, Oleg Kayan, Dave Williams, Serge Lebedev, Garry Garza,

Travis, your inclusion was a pleasant, but not unexpected addition. Congrats my man. :)

Travis Cossel February 25th, 2010 08:58 PM

Thanks, Steve. You're inclusion was a no-brainer. d;-) I've got to meet you and Laura someday soon.

Steve Moses February 25th, 2010 09:06 PM

Meet you? In person? That might crush my image of you as 6'6" with giant muscles. ;) One day my friend. If I pass thru Idaho on my way to civilization I will say hi. :) Thanks Trav

Travis Cossel February 25th, 2010 09:52 PM

Steve, if that's your image of me then we better not meet .. I'd rather keep the legend alive, lol. I can't say anything specific on here yet, but I have a feeling we'll meet somewhere else before you come through Idaho and see me. Looking forward to the day ...

Steve Moses February 25th, 2010 09:53 PM

Ever since your fantastic Borat imitation, I knew you were destined for great fame. :)

Yeah Joel I'm surprised Glen didn't make the list this year. Nevertheless it's good to see new faces and I think it would be a good practice every year to have a fresh 25.

Too funny. I thought that video lived in infamy only in my local circle, lol.

Steve Moses February 25th, 2010 11:50 PM

Seriously Travis, enjoy your time in the spotlight, but most importantly remember why the voters used a vote for you. Keep giving and sharing knowledge with others and being a good example for others. I have no doubt you will be there for many more years. We have been blessed to have been voted in the last 4 years and this year is as big an honor as the first year was. :)

Travis Cossel February 26th, 2010 01:05 AM

For sure, Steve. I've always been really open about sharing information and willing to help others, and being named to the top 25 isn't going to change that. If anything, I'm hoping it will open opportunities for me to be even more useful in our industry. But anyway .. I'm worried I'm taking up too much air in this thread now. d;-)

Monday, agree. I have never seen the work of the Spanish guy Antonio until yesterday, it was a joy to watch. I forgot the name of the other guy who story board his shoots, also an amazing videographer.

Travis, I would get all the mileage with your inclusion. I'll even post a link of the EventDV video on your blog if I were you. I would even pay for an article at a local newspaper about the award. But thats just me.

Well done Steve - again.

Steve Moses February 26th, 2010 11:33 AM

Thanks Howie, you have always been a great supporter. As the only filmmaker I know that is older than me, I love you. :)

Howard Neill February 26th, 2010 12:14 PM

You do very well, for a young man, Steve. A few of us are older than you. ;-)

Steve Zugelter February 28th, 2010 08:56 AM

Congrats to everyone that made the list. I agree it was nice to see some new faces this year.

Jason Magbanua March 2nd, 2010 12:22 AM

Hey Thanks all!

Im actually getting impatient for Mayad to get on that list. Next year!

Danny O'Neill March 2nd, 2010 09:29 AM

There were a few surprises with names missing I honestly thought would make it this year. Mayad being one of them.

I love the fact we got to see some new names as I was afraid that it could just become something where we see the same names over and over. I think the next announcement later this week should give us yet more inspiration.

Kevin Shahinian March 2nd, 2010 12:07 PM

Thanks guys, a big honor and congratulations to all.

John Moon March 3rd, 2010 06:08 PM

Thank you. DVinfo has been an incredible resource for us and we have met some great people through this forum.

Yes..there were some people I would have liked to have seen win. There are some very talented filmmakers who quietly do the work they love.

Thanks for the shout out Sarah. It's good to see another Tulsan here at DVInfo.

Congratulations to everyone who made the list. This year was extra special as it was the 5 year to be on the list.

I saw just this morning the released the finalist list, the Top 50 if you will. I'll make a new thread about it.

Oleg Kalyan March 20th, 2010 01:10 AM

Hi fellows, thanks everyone who voted for me! Made it to the top 50! I really appreciate it.
Hope everyone who voted meant it!

A few thoughts on that. I actually didn't vote for anyone, but one person! Why?
First of all I thought the end of voting is in March or so:)

Secondly, do not understand how the system works, to be honest got a few letters, asking to do cross voting, which is a bit like "I scratch your back you scratch mine". That made even less attractive the whole voting procedure.

For the fellow videographers who got on the list, I hope that the results can be used to capitalize in your local markets and help everyone to improve their business, to raise the profession. For Russian market it doesn't work one or the other way. Just a few people know what is eventdv, regretfully. The clients do not know that at all.

The point I try to make is that no ratings at all are needed, and any scenario of getting the votes will be subjective and by no means will represent the politics of one or another group, conducting the votes. I hear it a lot in private discussions, just wanted to raise it a bit up.
