Well put Warren. Your comment is the best summary for how to shoot a wedding I've read.

Warren, right on the money. I have always said shooting a wedding is like shooting breaking news. It happens fast, it happens once and you better be on your toes, ready for anything and as flexible as a russian gymnast! ;-)

Hi Warren

Totally brilliant and a great lesson for newbies too!! I remember way back when I was feeling my way thru the industry, I had a tantrum because things were not going exactly as I expected...of course, now I KNOW things are highly unlikely to be perfect and shoot for the moment.

I learn't very earlier that the worst thing a videographer can do is stress....what happens, happens so go with the flow and it will usually turn out great!!

Spot on, me too. I like to think that the photographer's job is to get nice images of everyone and everything looking as beautiful as possible. I consider my job to be to tell the story of what happens to the couple on their day, whatever that may be.

I like to treat the photographer as another important character in the story. I think that framing in the photographer while they take photos, quick focus pulls from the photographer to their subject, or even a shot or two of just the photographer, showing how they're concentrating and how they hold their camera and everything, can all really add to a 'photo shoot' montage. :)

One thing I've started trying lately is getting the photographer's details and sending them my video montage of their photo shoots and encourage them to use it in their marketing if they want. I figure I'm much more likely to get a referral from them in the future. Has anybody else tried doing that before?

I do that all the time (unless the photog gave me trouble :)), I also include some creative shots from the venue and sometimes send them the link as well, and I have received some referrals though this way, just a few the past years but all bits help. :)
