Re: Saving raw wedding footage for how long?
I must say that keeping all the raw footage doesn't really seam to make much sense unless you plan to use it again.
I keep a master DVD and blu-ray image along with physical discs, then once I know the clients are happy, the raw footage will be deleted apart from files that I wish to keep for stock footage. john |
Re: Saving raw wedding footage for how long?
What I would like to know is for how long these files (any file for that matter) can be kept on the hard disk. Would they last say after 3-5 years, 10years?

Re: Saving raw wedding footage for how long?
I've had really good luck with the 3.5'' internal hard drives (eventually stored externally and accessed via the toaster). I've done it for 5 years now and the oldest are still accessible.
I confess that I have been storing two versions of every project (and its original raw content) -- one off site, one on. Yes, probably overkill to keep the raw footage twice. I think I will start only keeping the final video_ts and blu_ray builds on one of them and whole project (raw and disc builds) on the other. |
