Anyone used the Pocketrak PR7 as a groom or officiant recorder?

Was about to order a Yamaha C24 and saw the newer PR7. They are available for close to same price. Anyone have feedback on the sound quality on this newer model?

I now realize the Yamaha PR7 has just been released within the last couple of weeks, so reviews are not likely to be in yet. I will just choose between the two and go with one. The C24 is significantly lighter and smaller, it is probably a better choice for wedding work.

I'd be surprised if it didn't perform well and the addition of a 1/4"x20 thread in the back is a welcome addition. However I am put off by the unprotected onboard mics. They look vulnerable as with the Zoom H4n. The H1 still wins for me.

Thanks, Peter.

I am very happy with my H1, (except for the auto gain not being too efficient) but my need is for a discreet pocket/cam to fit in the groom's pocket. I have been getting away with using the H1, but want something slimmer. I need an additional recorder anyway, so I'll try one of these. I"m leaning towards the C24, it's so slim! I was shipped a C2 by mistake a couple of weeks ago when I ordered a C24. The C2 was unbeleivably light and slim, about the same as the C24.

I've been using a Zoom H1 for a while and although it is very good, I also wanted something slimmer and easy to slip in a pocket. I thought I would try one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004SO3N6...W&linkCode=asn. I am very impressed with it. the included stereo lavalier is excellent and I now prefer it to the H1 for size, convenience and battery life. Although it is mp3 only, I find the quality excellent for wedding work and some commercial voice overs that I have recorded with it.

Watch the bit rates on the Pocketraks. The earlier model CX I have did/does a far superior job with bit rates compared to its same vintage cheaper brother.

Thanks Chip.

I spent 4 hours yesterday comparing recorders specs, drove myself nuts. I want the smallest, lightest with highest quality I can achieve, so I went with the Sony below. Hope I didn't waste money, but it seems promising, at least according to the specs.
