Remote Recording Settings

I've been doing weddings for a couple of years, and always used a combination of sennheiser wireless mics and rode mics, which worked very well. Unfortunately theres been a situation where the studio who loaned me the mics are no longer able to do so, so I've had to acquire some (affordable) alternatives as a stop gap. After reading the helpful posts on here I decided to pick up a Zoom H1 and a sony dictaphone with lapel mic. I plan on using the dictaphone and lapel on the priest and having the H1 on a light stand near a speaker, if possible. Now our next wedding is this weekend and we only got the mics today so have little time to run tests, I was wondering what settings people generally use when using recording devices that they can't monitor, particularly during the ceremony and speeches? I heard that the Auto levels on the H1 are quite good, would anyone recommend this approach? Also what are peoples views on using the lowpass filter? Also seeing as I only have one 2gb card would it be acceptable, quality wise to record on mp3 (I think the sony dictaphone only records mp3 anyway)? Sorry for all the questions, and also if this has been covered elsewhere on the forums!
