What I meant was, does your package cost include the cost of all these lifetime backups?

Our prices include keeping the finished disk ISO's on tier 3 storage (slow, offline drives) forever (forever limited to until the drives themselves die) and keeping the source media for changes for 3 months. They can buy the raw footage from us if they wish (it's one of the very few upsells we can do unlike photogs).

It's important as a business to calculate the actual cost of your product. Factor in everything from the disks, gear as well as your office assets like PC's, storage, network, internet etc. Most who do this find they are working for well, WELL below minimum wage or the worst case scenario is you actually realise by filming a wedding you are loosing money and you may as well go out each week and flush dollar bills down the loo.

To give you an idea. To have the storage setup in my article above, with the assets depreciated over 5 years equals around £20 per job. Not a lot really for a decent setup when you look at it that way. But some will just see the initial cost and not think about the long term business cost. That £20 covers the cost of our storage unit, drives, backups, electricity and estimated maintenance costs to store the data on tier 1 while we edit, tier 2 for archive and tier 3 for the finished ISO's. Also with that we have cloud backups for the project files which change by the minute as we edit and a UPS to protect it all from power spikes and outages.
