Re: 4K too sharp?
I have to say the GH4 footage looks impressive, even on YouTube, but of course they shoot these things in impressive looking landscapes and never in cloudy northern Europe! Hmm....

Re: 4K too sharp?
Perhaps the way to look at is that you can't "put back" detail that's not recorded - you can ALWAYS blur or reduce detail...
Color is much the same way - it's hard to fix what didn't record "quite right". Stabilization is another... MORE data recorded at the time of capture is usually preferable, within reason! Good, in focus, sharp, stable, color correct footage... if it's 4K, all the better. Yeah, we don't ask for too much from our cameras! I will say that after breaking down and getting the HD cable feed, SD looks awfully "blurry" to me now, and I see more and more when the "HD" wasn't done or set up right... and while it may be a while before a 4K "TV" enters the picture (will wait with Chris for smoke to escape from perfectly good working 1080p sets), 4K capability is on the list for a computer upgrade, and that likely also means a 4K monitor... |
