Re: White Balance in the field?

We used to use grey cards with the panasonic cameras and never got the same white balance from camera to camera - drove me nuts!

I swore never to buy another camera that won't allow me to set the kelvin temperature. Fixed 3200K and 5600K is not enough.

Outside, auto WB can work well, but inside it's hit and miss depending on the mixed lighting situation.

We manually WB indoors all the time, setting all cameras to be the same kelvin temp unless one is looking from a completely different direction and has a totally different light source, e.g. open window vs incandescent light.

Corporate shoots are slightly different in that I'll take the colour checker board with us and shoot that before interviews so that I can isolate the white/grey in post and neutralise any colour casts more accurately.
