If you end up putting the dances on dvd which is basically 30p, you end up with 30 pictures a second even if you start with 60p. I've found that if you want to capture fast movements, it's important to get the shutter speed up. If you are doing 60p, you are running faster anyway, but if you run the shutter speed up at 30p, you get 30 pictures per second that have no blur. Of course, it is a compromise between low light, noise and shutter speed. Also with a higher shutter speed, you can put great still pictures off the video.

Most DVD are 60i which is 60 camera exposures a second recording just fields ( 59.94 fields per second) timecode for 60i is 29.94fps with timecode incrementing every 2 fields but do not get confused that 60i is 30P which is very different. 60i has exactly the same temporal motion as 60P and conversion to 60i is only a matter of the encoding taking a field from each frame. 30P is not a standard for discs at all and is only for computer based displays.
I shoot 60i with my NX5U and XR500 and 60P with my NX30U and CX700 all edit fine on an Edius 6oi timeline and encode for Bluray at 60i or DVD 60i. This gets nice smooth motion.
