I'm glad you reviewed this as I found this product yesterday while on the net and thought hey, this looks ok.

Which model is it Noa - I think this might be a good purchase and let my Merlin go but I think i might as well go for the latest one.

Currently in the UK I can only find this one - is it the same as yours or newer?

That's the same one as I have, their new model, the beholder ds1, seems much more versatile (you can open the camera lcd screen which is big advantage) and I have found a price of 700 dollar on a forum though I couldn't find it back on the suppliers site yet. I think with the ds1 they want to compete with the nebula 4000 as it is in the same pricerange.

Did you find a European supplier Noa or did you buy from the states?

I thought I was ordering from China as I made the purchase on the cnchelicopter.com website until I saw the delivery status that it left an airport in Los Angeles.

Cheers Steve - I am sorely tempted to get one of these for next season :) Not being able to see your screen is a bit of a pain, especially if you have to faff with a wifi app though.

They have got a updated version now which allows the screen to rotate out.

Re: Beholder, 3 axis gimbal

I've just looked at a review where there might be an issue with some large wide lenses - I plan on using my A7s with Samyang 14mm - I think it should be under the weight limit but I can't find anything on the Team Rebel site regarding camera/lens combos - I'll fire an email

UPDATE - Too heavy - the total weight would be 2.3 pounds - I'd have to use my 16mm pancake which sadly is not as good a lens as the Samyang and there's not a lot of wide FE lenses on the market - at least not light ones :(

Having said all that I'm looking at Team Rebel FB page where they are demoing it with A7s/24-70 - total weight 2lbs but the spec says max weight 1.9lbs

Re: Beholder, 3 axis gimbal

Is their new ds1 not able to carry more weight? Or where you talking about that version?

Re: Beholder, 3 axis gimbal

The DS1 can carry 3.8lbs which is perfect so I'll wait for that - I think a purchase before next season will be ok and by then hopefully a UK or European supplier.

Just looking back on a few posts regarding the new version, Beholder TRD DS1

Peter, did you buy a gimbal yet? I too was interested in the Beholder DS1 for my GH4 and Lumix 12-35mm Lens

Thanks.

Great footage,Noa.
I use the beholder MS1 with a Sony A5100,
If you plan to attach a phone for the wifi connection, please, let us know how you intend to do this.
You have to use the threaded bottom part of the handle but when you start the gimbal it has to be on a flat surface.....upright.
With the bottom threaded part occupied you won't be able to do that.
Thanks for sharing..
