I haven't had too much time to play with the GX85 but it's clear that sound is not it's strong point!
What I have seen is that aliasing can be quite bad even with the sharpening turned down.
I have also seen that the stabilisation is very impressive which is what I bought it for.

In 4K though the aliasing is almost not visible but it's best to turn the sharpness down, in HD the aliasing can be a problem when you shoot with wide lenses, I have been using the camera exclusively with the 42,5mm and 75mm and with f-stops at f1.7 and f1.8 respectively and aliasing was not a problem in HD for me.

I left the camera to record in 4K on a table. It recorded a clip of 1h 43 mins before the battery died! Very happy with that!
I bought it through personal-view.com and the delivery was very quick. 5-7 days I think.

Noa, I saw the aliasing on wide shots (like you mentioned) and filming construction sites in 4K with the sharpening dialled down. Anyway, I didn't buy it for that as I have a Canon C100 for those jobs. I bought it for what you are using it for! Lightening the load at weddings and events.

Noa,
I'm new to Panasonic cameras. How do you set up the autofocus so that it focusses by half pressing the shutter button but if doesn't continue to try to autofocus afterwards? Can you then make small adjustments with the focus ring?

Sorry for the late reply, I missed your last question, when you are in the menu: "custom" you have to select "shutter af" and turn that to on. If I want to shoot with manual focus I have a button set to changing between auto and manual focus.

Have you tried the camera at a wedding? I have another wedding coming up where I"m planning to make extensive use of it again, I really wish Panasonic would have added a mike input, eventhough voices seem to sound clear there is just way to much background noise.

Hi Noa,
I have 2 weddings this weekend and I plan to use it. I'll have to buy a couple of lenses as I only have the kit lens (12-35 3.5-5.6) and a SLR Magic 12mm T1.6 which bought secondhand for 300€.
I'm thinking of buying the Panasonic 25mm 1.7 and the 42.5mm 1.7 as they aren't too expensive and I don't usually use lenses much longer than 100mm (full frame).
I plan to use it when sound isn't the most important. I will use other sound recorders and my C100 when recording the ceremony and dance. But for the preparations, cocktail, dinner and those more intimate moments I'm going to try the GX85. I'll have my C100 at hand if I feel the camera or I are not upto filming such a big part of a wedding yet. In any case, I'm going to try it on Saturday after testing properly tomorrow.

The 42,5 f1.7 is a must have for m4/3 as it's cheap, tiny and stabilized, I also have the 75mm f1.8 which was gathering dust as I only could use it on a tripod and I preferred to use the 42,5mm handheld but with the gx80 the 75mm, together with the 42,5mm, has become one of my favorite lenses again to use to shoot handheld.

Yes, but it's a quality piece of glass and one of Olympus finest primes, I do however think it is not so expensive compared to Sony, Canon or Nikon most expensive primes and it's reach is perfect to get those close up headshots at ceremonies, receptions or in the venue. Before I had to use a tripod as even a monopod was difficult to keep it steady enough but the gx80 allows me to shoot handheld with that lens which has given the 75mm a permanent place in my gearbag again.
