How to start being newbie

Hi everyone. I've always have a passion for video production for the past 7 years now. But its not until now that I feel i'm ready to step foot into the business. I'm not to brag but i'm pretty good with post production stuff. My camera work is good (thanks to some stabilizers) but the thing i feel that's difficult is the fact i'm a newbie. I mean its so hard for me to have a demo to show them if you have no wedding experience. Any recommendations i would greatly appreciate. I know its easier to say start with family and friends, but if you think about it, its their wedding and they want something to see you're capable, what should i do? Shoot freebies to get my demos? Thanks in advance everyone.

shoot freebies, or close to freebies, usually with freebies there is not too much pressure, setup something with giving away a free video package worth xxxxx dollars, go to some local Churches, and leave it up to the office people to pick someone they feel could use the service that would appreciate it and cound not normally afford it (make them choose one that is in the winter, so you have something to show during bride shopping time. The office people will be more than happy to offer something free to one of there members, try that route, good luck.

What Michael said is sooo true...

"Do as much as you can to start, even it it's for free and if your good work will find you." It would seem you and I share the same challenge, however I've come to realize that word of mouth is stronger than even a demo reel.

I've started shooting and people are just seeking me out, asking for my services. Start at your local church see what's needed, in fact go there with a plan show them how their events can be captured and displayed for friends, family, and even used as christmas presents...

Get all the content you can get your hands on. Master it, achieve it, build it, and they will come.

Hey thanks you guys, man i never thought about that. That's great, i'll stop by a few of the churches in my area and leave them some of my cards. Again thank you very much, that's a good start.
