The Knot

I know this & marketing threads come up now & then, but does anyone know is The Knot a bidding website? Or has it recently switched to one?

I am on WeddingWire, and was advertising with them but stopped after 2 years. Still, I get to keep my profile on it, which is similar to a FB or Yelp page I guess. I never setup a Knot profile, so thought I would for added exposure/backlinks. It seems more like a place where couples put in what they're looking for (DJ, photo, video etc), enter a price, and get responses back from vendors who accept their gig. I think there's another site weddingbee or weddingbug who does something similar.

Reason I ask is I later received an email soliciting me to join their listing service and saw a few chains, both local & national, who I've seen post quite frequently on CL & jobs pages (indeed) looking for wedding videographers. I'd often wondered how they were getting so many gigs in other markets and don't see them on Google Adwords (not that I'd click on them, bad karma!)

Re: The Knot

When I saw the title I couldn't help but think that homosexual marriage has just been legalised in Australia.

Sorry for the visual.
