Travis

We use 2 FX1s for the shoot. We record everything in the ceremonies (mostly catholic).

After a couple of months warming up to the Sonys, now I'm loving every minute shooting with them. We've customized a picture profile to our taste and are very much amazed with the quality of the image.

They're making me forget my love affair with the DVX.

Do you do much in the way of color correction or enhancement in post?

Jason Magbanua January 18th, 2006 09:08 PM

for that video, except for some bw clips and the soft filter for the xmas tree sequence, nothing was corrected.

Travis Cossel January 18th, 2006 09:15 PM

Wow. That's impressive quality from the camera. You must have a great settings profile figured out. I'm on GL2's, and I end up doing a lot of color correction in post to get just what I want.

What about steadicam devices? Are you strictly handheld, or do you use monopods or steadicams of any kind?

Pardon all of the questions, but I pride myself on attempting quality work, and when I find someone who is exhibiting the qualities I like, I tend to want to figure out what I can learn from them. d:-)

Jason Magbanua January 18th, 2006 09:31 PM

No problem at all.

I graduated from GL2s, God knows I loved 'em, but I outgrew the limited manual controls.

As of now, prep shots are handheld as well as parts of the ceremony after the vows and readings.

I've only just recently ordered a glidecam and waiting excitedly to practice on it.

Travis Cossel January 18th, 2006 09:42 PM

Very nice handheld work then. It's so hard to do with a small camera.

I do like the GL2's, but I sure wish they had a manual zoom ring. Other than that, they'll do alright for me for a while longer I hope.

Keep up the good work. I've been watching a bunch of your videos. I like your style. I'll probably bug you again down the road with another question.

Until then . . . .

very VERY impressive work.
For an SDE, i would say its probably one of the best ones ive seen

very VERY impressive and im sure that the SDE alone would have scored kudos with other potential clients.

good luck with it mate

Jason...that was an SDE? Oh my lord! Incredible man, simply incredible.

Even if I dind't know it was an SDE I would consider it some of the best work I've seen from you- then again I said that with the last clip you did. You keep improving. I can't believe you can produce such quality in so little time.

Keep up the fantastic work- you are immeasurably talented.

Colby Knight January 19th, 2006 12:57 PM

Stupid question... what is an SDE?

Travis Cossel January 19th, 2006 01:09 PM

Not a stupid question at all . . .

SDE = same day edit

Jason, that was some amazing work right there.

When are you going to come to our continent and teach us the way of the Jedi?

Maybe we can all finally meet. Going to Vegas for WEVA this year? Either of you?

Travis Cossel January 20th, 2006 12:55 PM

Off topic - I know, but how useful would you rate joining and going to WEVA in Vegas? I have considered it before, but I just haven't heard from someone who is a member and has gone as to how useful it is. Again sorry to steer off topic a little.
