Used a Steadicam Merlin for wedding

I haven't seen any wedding footage using the Merlin yet so I thought I'd post one.

My cousin got married recently and asked me to film them and make a video, since they know this is more of a hobby of mine and not a business. So I whipped out some cameras (thanks to Denise & Noah!) and my Merlin and made a highlight video for them.

Thanks.

Hey Armin,

Nice job! You should consider wedding shoots for profit. If this was your first wedding shoot.....very nice job.

Cheers

Hey Armin,
Great job filming, smooth fluid motions. This video really has me looking into a steadicam device for filming events. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words! It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed the creative process. I'm happy keeping it a hobby for now, but will consider filming these events for pay on a case-by-case basis.

Nice video. You used the merlin well. What camera was flying on the merlin?

Noah Hayes August 12th, 2006 08:15 AM

He was using the TRV900 on the Merlin, the other two cameras were my FX1 and his VX1000

wow

I really liked how this came out... I was holding off on the merlin as it does take some practicing, but as an added bonus I'd get it. It was this or the poor man's steadicam.

I think the Merlin looks a lot more professional to a bunch of clients.

I love the Merlin, it's a great tool and works well. It does take some time to balance, and then trimming it regularly. It also does look great and is low-profile enough to be unobtrusive. Several people at the wedding were impressed by how it looks and "flies". Good luck!

Thanks for the demo. Man, can that photographer get ANY closer (1:36) as the father gave the daughter away?!

Hello Armin,
