Football filming!

Filming a footbal game on Sunday, anyone know how to get good elevation? There is no stand or press box, its just a pitch.

Cheers.

build a basic crane with just 2 or 3 piece of wood (should take less than 30 min).

Park a mini van close to the field and shoot from on top of it. You have to be very still because every movement will jar the camera, but it can be done.

Hi Dennis,

I shoot from the bed of my Ford F250 PU when I shoot outside horse shows.

The bigger the PU, the higher off the ground and the stiffer the suspension.

If you can, use the heaviest duty van available, less suspension movement and larger top surface to use.

You can also use leg weights at the TriPod's apex to help steady it.

I also use a seperate 5" to 10" LCD monitor, instead of the Cam's viewer or side monitor. Much easier for tracking and watching what you're doing.

Can send you Pics of setup if interested.

We have used a bucked filled with concrete and put a pole in it and mounted our tripod head to the pole. We then used a ladder to shoot from above. The pole we used was 15ft tall.
