Greek Wedding highlights
 

Hello from Greece. Me and my brother start to shoot weddings from 2006 (one year). We spend a lot time to practice and watching other works and techniques before get into it! The weddings in Greece is very different, the church is very dark & old (sometimes over 500 years), the preperation is a crazy thing :) and the party is a mess! 
Everything going in “light speed” and there is a lot of stress…

Here a baptism in a very very old monastery. The baptisms is a small process (about 40 mins) but very important:

All the links at your site connect okay to other pages with text and photos. Unfortunately, I can't read a word of Greek. (Typical American -- I only know one language.)

I agree, the camera movement was done very well and really added a cinema feel to the videos. I am also curious as to what camera stabilizer was used to obtain those shots.

I use 2 FX1 and 1 Canon Mvx3i , glidecam 4000 pro & Varizoom Flowpod for the Weddings. In Baptisms i use only the Varizoom Flowpod as steadyshot...

I liked your camera moves too. The pacing of your edits/transitions as well as the speed of your camera movement matched the music tempo very well. For being new in this, sounds like you have some nice gear.

Hey Kostas. First of all welcome to DVinfo and thanks for sharing your work with the community. Here is some constructive criticism.

I noticed that the large crescendos in the music tracks aren't matched up with strong shots. You can definitely improve the visual impact by matching really strong shots to the "strong" points in the track.

In addition to that the pieces you posted lacked audio presence. In other words it's just moving imagery set to music. No natural audio- abient sound, voice overs, or otherwise. Without it pieces can feel somewhat steril.

I thought you composition and imagery was good. The moving shots were also good. It's very interesting seeing a wedding from a local other than the united states. Some beautiful imagery there. Keep up the good work and thanks again for sharing.

Just saw your showreel - it's beautifull!!
Your camera work reminds me of the Mark Von Lanken style - very flowing.

I've done lots of Greek weddings in Australia and I know what you mean about the low lighting in Orthodox churches - Considering you use FX1's; how are you lighting your ceremony shoots?

One criticism with your showreel is that you build up to some really nice scenes but cut them too short leaving the viewer wanting to see more - especially the wide shot over the balcony.

Overall though, BRAVO PAIDIA!!

Τhanks all for the constructive criticism. Your works there in USA are source of inspiration for us, specifically Joel Peregrine that happened I see first his own work… amazing. Glen your observations for soundtrack using are right … As long as for the VO you have also absolute right and are something where I try but you see here in Greece we have no Love words between the couple, something that in the catholics adds sentiment. Moreover is prohibited the use of microphones (specifically in the Priest). Nevertheless I prepare Love Story with enough material, when its ready I post it for comments & critism.

I use the FX1. Inside the churce I use 2 headlights in very big distance with the half power… The showreel needs rebuilt, eyxaristo Paul!
