I bought a copy of Vegas 4 on eBay for $57 upgraded to 7 for $135 (when 7 shipped) and then 8 for $135(Yesterday). My understanding is if you have a Full (not LE or Studio) not Bundled version of Vegas you can get the $135 upgrade. But they track the upgrades. I tried my Vegas 4 serial number yesterday and was told it had been used which was true I used it for 7. So I used the serial number in the $15 box they shipped me for 7, not the one in "My Software".

That's a great price.

Does anyone know how long it will last?

I'm wondering if my single core aging Pentium (1 gig ram) is up to the task.

Brian

Brian, per Sony's email the upgrade promotion is good through October 31st.

I have V6, and DO NOT have DVD architect. If I get the upgrade, do I get DVDA as well? The upgrade page makes it seem so.

You do. Bundling DVD Architect with Vegas started with the release of Vegas 7/DVDA 4.

Oops - I praised the Sony customer service too early...

Hi,

Referring to my cancelation and re-entering my order:

As the title says, everything SEEMED to go smooth. I was convinced that my first order (at the full price) was cancelled, since the order disappeared from my account pages, and the serial number was freed for a new entry using the same.

What actually happened is that Sony now have sent me TWO copies, one for the full price, the other for the discounted price - both now in transit!!! I now contacted Sony customer service this time by email - no reply yet :(

It seems that the helpful lady just deleted my serial number from the registry, not my actual order...

Lets see how they are going to sort this out... Can I refuse from accepting the Fedex shipment and ask them to take it back to the sender? And how about refunding my credit card? I hope I get soon an answer, needless to say, I'm upset.
So to the rest of you - BEWARE. Crediting 100USD IS the right thing to do, not to reorder, Sonys system is not compatible for that kind of operations...

I keep you posted about the outcome...

Regards,

Christian

They simply gave me a credit of a $100 on my Visa. Maybe you were one of the first ones and by the time it got to me they had worked out what they would do. It was all sorted out for me in about a minute or two.

I don't think there is any reason to bothered by it. It can be sorted easily enough.

I'm about ready to jump to Vegas 8 and I'm tempted to check the "Add Cinescore" button since it's a good time to get that software. I've looked at the Cinescore page but have not been able to figure out what themes ship with the package?

Does Cinescore ship with everything listed on this page?

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/...FeatureID=8527
or is this an example of what the various theme packs (that you buy) contain?

It is an example. Cinescore comes bundled with themes "Incredible Vistas" and "Adrenaline Surge". Good offer, though.

Those two theme packs are extra to all the ones that come stock with Cinescore.

Well V8 Pro just breathed new life into my old P4 2.4Ghz with 1GB RAM. The playback is much smoother. Very nice. Editing Cineform on my lowly old system on V8 is very peppy. Renders are still slow, but I have a new Quadcore to take care of that.

The cheapest solution for New Vegas users r:
1. Buy Vegas 6 from B&H at USD99.
B&H Order

2. Order the Vegas 8 upgrade software download at USD134.95
Sony Order

Total: 99+shipping cost+134.95=USD233.95++
Prob under USD250 for most folks. U get Vegas 6+Vegas 8 Pro+DVD A4.5

Goodluck!

Thank you. It didn't really show that until you put it in your cart. Once it was in my cart, something took over my credit card and I ended up ordering both products!

I bought Vegas 8 yesterday.

Took about 10 mins on-line to buy Movie Studio, get the serial number and then buy the upgrade for Vegas 8 Pro. Got the download version + separate manuals etc.

I'm very impressed with Vegas - especially for half the price!
