Jason,

The 20 themes you mentioned here are all what ships with the cinescore software.

The latest theme packs can be found here which all seem to have 10 new themes in each pack.

I wasn't sure if Sony was releasing some new themes with the whole Vegas Pro 8 roll out. Too bad. I would love to get a hold of some new samples that might tip me towards a purchase. Cinescore still falls horribly flat when it comes to some of the musical decisions it makes.

-fake endings in the middle of songs
-inability to choose which element of music to play (why does verse a repeat 4 times! gahhh)
-last few beats of a sample ramping up an instrument only to have the very next sample not even use that instrument so the music dies right in mid phrase
-complete lack of descriptions on each variation of a theme. if they would just give each one some thing to help me remember which one it is....

But I must say that I am still interested in it and with the bundled price with V8 pro, for a total of $300 it is a very tempting package. Especially since I have no other options for music at that price.

Cinescore versus SonicFire Pro?

What are the pro's/con's of each of these? I currently have SonicFire. What would be the advantages of Cinescore? I use Vegas so I'm sure it would integrate better, but sonicfire is quite workable with Vegas. It looks like Cinescore only puts out 2 channel stereo. With Sonicfire you can put different instruments on different tracks and inport to Vegas with front and rear channels having different instruements. Can this be done with Cinescore? It appears Cinescore, like Sonicfire has a somewhat limited (and expensive) library. Thanks for any comments you may have - PK

Two guys in another group have had a long thread about the merits of Cinescore v's Sonic fire - they've been playing with both. It appears they think SF offers more control as to when you can change intensity etc, and they prefer it because of that.

Apparently Sony has bought into SF somehow and one of these guys suspect that the Cinescore will get an upgrade at some point with the SF capabilities built into it.

I have Cinescore with four extra theme packs and like it for what I've done so far. I have not been trying to choreograph music to pictures except for changing on beats, though have stumbled on the inability to change intensity when I want to as opposed to when Cinescore wants to.

The Sony Cinescore forums mentioned that as well. It might be a long time before this filters down into an actual release of a product.

Till then, I am still torn. I need music soon (1 wedding in 1 month and another in April) but I don't want to put $180 into a limited product when I could have gone over to Magnatune.com and purchased / licensed some non-generated music for roughly that cost. Of course the one time fee is very attractive for Cinescore / Sonicfire as opposed to the Magnatune License (especially for web delivery... very expensive).
