In the video card settings is usually a "Hardware Acceleration" option. What happens if that is dropped below "Full"? Experiment with some different levels and see if that makes a difference.

Ian,

You might try Edward's suggestion. I'm using an 8800 as well and have been having lots of crashing in Vegas 8 doing various things. Lately dropped the hardware acceleration down two notches on both monitors, installed Vegas 8a and things seem to be a bit more stable now. I just finished a project using Pro-type with no crashing. 32bit however still crashes everytime and

Time will tell,

Marc

you also might try allocating your dynamic RAM to not more than 25% of your total available RAM in addition to lowering the graphic acceleration.
Normally, the PTT tool likes acceleration, but it may be that your card doesn't like PTT much.

I use a Quadro FX4500, Q6600 CPU (3.0QuadCore) 4GB Ram and PTT causes Vegas to freeze for me. BTW I would like to thank the folks that put PTT together, but I'm not crazy about the lack of intuitiveness of its layout...I am not crazy about the feature, but I believe they will improve upon it in the future. I was impressed with the speed with which they came out with the update. They are trying...that much is obvious...

Thanks for the suggestions, gentlemen, but no game I'm afraid.

I have tried various combinations of acceleration with different dynamic RAM allocations but PTT has fallen over every time within five minutes and just now within ten seconds. Actually, there's one exception to that list where I managed to keep PTT running smoothly for a good thirty minutes. But having saved the project and returned to it later, that's when I managed to break it!

I have a client free week coming up so maybe I'll do some system rebuilding - needs a bit of a spring (autumn?) clean anyway.

Thanks again.
