Ramping/fading filters
 

I just shot a 1 camera gig for a Jazz recital, problem was the lighting was all over the place, hot spots, heads in the dark etc. So I had to use the brightness/contrast fx to make levels acceptable, problem is the transition between events is obvious like turning on a switch on or off.
Keeping in mind this is a one camera music recording so it can't have breaks as the peices flow from one to the other. Is there a way of graduating the change between events (as in I made them separate to deal with the different lighting ) with the filters?

as much as I don't like to use B/C for exposure corrections (I prefer C/C and Levels and Curves) BUT BandC and be KEYFRAMED to make the adjustments gradual-how gradual will depend on the length of time and how the keyframe is set by you to work but in any case it sounds like keyframes will be your friend on this project.

I agree with Don - "Brightness and Contrast" is probably NOT want you're wanting and Color Curves and the Color Correction effect will probably better achieve what you're wanting to do.

But, yes, ALL of the above can be keyframed to change over time. Just add keyframes on the timeline at the bottom of the effect dialog. If you don't see the timeline at the bottom, you have it "resized to nothing" and need to move the mouse to the bottom of the dialog box just above the bottom edge. The mouse will turn into an up/down arrow. Click and drag upwards.
