Vegas 8 Computer Questions
 

I am thinking of moving to Vegas 8 because I like the interface; I am an audio editor and I like the similarities. I have just been given a Core 2 duo 1.6 box and have no wishes to do anything in HD right now. I am not trying to upgrade a super PC, I am a MAC user, but I was given this PC and I want to dedicate it to something. All I want to know is if the processor is fast enough for SD editing and effects and what kind of render time am I looking at for SD projects... remember, I am avoiding HD like the plague right now- just SD from a couple of DVX 100's and maybe a XL2 or two. Oh, and how well does Vegas integrate with After Effects 6.5 and up?

That machine will run Vegas just fine. It's definitely enough for editing SD.

You can move media files between Vegas and AE. Vegas won't open AE projects and AE won't open Vegas projects. But you can move files from Vegas, work on them in AE, and then bring them back to Vegas.

Bump is a more polite way of saying the same thing :-)

Being rude yields results! Whether traffic, or customer service operators, or telemarketers, being slightly ill-mannered almost needs to be answered and corrected. Therefore, I played a part to get an answer.

A little patience please? 45minutes is not a lot of time to wait for the quality of answers you will receive.

Your setup will be just fine, though more information about the RAM would be helpful (for example, a Core 2 Duo being chocked by only 256MB or RAM is nearly useless but put 2GB behind it and it purrrrrrrs).

Absolutely wouldn't try it. Probably more trouble than it's worth. In fact, being the kind and generous person that I am (just ask me), send it to me and I will save you the misery, agony, and embarrassment.
