Greenscreen and cropping question?

Hello, I have to shoot some greenscreen and am able to light it very well and separate it all well, and rim light for what will likely be an easy composite, however do to limitations I have a narrow setup. The main subject will be too cropped if I maintain the green all around full frame, so can I shoot with the main subject wider surrounded by green all around them, but the edges of the frame on both left and right (which will be unused anyway) not green and than what is the best way to cut that center piece out and key the video to use on top another background?

I hope that made sense, basically I want to key out the subject, but the edges left and right won't be greenscreen since they will have to be walls, if I go in tighter to get the green fully behind the subject is too tight for the screen. So can I just cut out the edges completely leaving a more square image all greenscreened around the subject and than key them out and use that or is it a real problem?

I appreciate any help. I am using vegas 8 and all HD video, from either a xha1, hv20 or an hg10 camera.

You can use the bezier/masking tools to accomplish that. Or you can use the cookie cutter filter.

2- You may or may not need to change pre/post toggle to get the order of processing right (bezier masking then chroma key, or the other way around).
