Reduce "S" sound from audio...
 

Greetings,

I recently recorderd a voice over for an "on-hold" message for a phone system. The WAV file I created sounds good when played through my computer speakers, however, the phone system seems to distort/amplify any "s" sounds. Is there a way I can reduce this in vegas? Perhaps reduce a frequency using eq settings? Thanks in advance for your replies. I appreciate the feedback.

EQ or de-esser
 

I'd start by using the EQ to reduce frequencies above, say 5000. Not sure if Vegas offers this one, but you can also try a DeEsser filter. Trial and error will be the order of the day with either option. Good luck!

The Multi-Band Dynamics effect has a "De-esser" preset.

I bought Magix Audio Cleaning Lab for about $15 at Best Buy a couple of years ago and have used it extensively for hisses and rumbles, also pretty decent at removing echos.

To reduce the "S" sound use a graphic Eq. and pull down the range about half an octave or less around 3Khz. -3 to -8dB. depending on how bad it is. This will be more effective than just cutting the highs.

However, it is important to keep your original file and experiment until it sounds "right" for the intended purpose.
