Congratulations. Glad to hear they honored the offer - even when they had the right not to do so.

Just install 5.0a and have fun!

What is SmartSound?

Jim Quinlan May 21st, 2004 06:30 AM

Yes, please post the link. It happened to me also but was too busy and forgot to go back and address it. Thanks

That is simply a market that Vegas is not appealing to at the
moment I think. Although they do support HDV and native HD
resolutions and such. They just do not support it on their preview
out.

Vegas does not use an intermediate version. It simply outputs
the video signal over firewire, that is all. I just looked in the
preferences (under options) and you can set which Video standard
it should use under Video Devices. If you set that to Video for
Windows and then select your MJPEG driver it might still work?
Give that a try.

Again, it does have frame export. Only through scripting (they
deliver the script to do this).

Any chance you changed the whole track to minor slowmotion for
example? Or that you have external preview turned on without
an external preview device present? In my experience external
preview slows anything down anyway.

Perhaps you changed some project setting by accident?

Edward Troxel May 21st, 2004 07:17 AM

I believe it's on both the Sony and Magic Bullet web sites.

I´m afraid my findings are not good...
I´ve found that if I move the video files to another Hard Drive they play smoothly..

So I guess my HD is the problem?

Much of Vegas 4 book is relevant to Vegas 5, but there is a Vegas 5 book that has been turned into the publisher too. Plus we have our Instant Series book on Vegas coming soon too.

Thank you Chicago, enjoyed meeting you!

There are images of the Chicago VASST posted on the VASST site for those that would like to view them. We had a camera malfunction in Denver, no pix from there.

Great classes, fun days, good energy from all. We had a great time there both at the Sony Event and the VASST Day event. Tomorrow is the ACID event with Jeffrey P. Fisher.

Congrats to the winners of the Bella keyboards, Hark Production
loops, Artbeats footage, ADS Tank, Neon/Excalibur, VASST DVDs,
Pixelan SpiceFilters. Looking forward to seeing more of you down the road, LA is next. Looking forward to meeting the SCVUG folks!

capture utility is being weird. . .or maybe I am

For some reason, when I start up the Vegas capture utility recently, there's nothing on the bottom half of the window. What I mean is, normally there's a white space that shows all the clips you've logged, and now, It's just a blank grey expanse. Also, when I mark an in and an out, and then click "log in/out", nothing happens. What'd I do?

Sunny Dhinsey May 21st, 2004 02:45 PM

Don't know if this will help, but try 'dragging' the bottom half of the grey expanse upwards. Place you cursor at the bottom and see if a double arrow resizer appears, if so drag it up, if not - then I'm as lost as you are!
