Configuration of this pc with Vegas.
Hallo guys, i need your opinion about the configuration of this machine:
t7400-Dual Xeon x5472(3.00 ghz) 4gb ddr2 800 Quad channel FBD Memory n.1 hard drive 300gb(15000rpm)SAS n.3 additional 300GB,15000rpm SAS C"4SAS raid5 for 4 hard drives nvidia Quadr fx 5600(shega2) How would you handle the config to have the best fromSV8? thx a lot |
I'm not clear on what you are asking exactly. Do you want an opinion on the system?
If so, I suggest that one new i7 chip would be a much better investment than the older Dual Xeons, at least for Vegas. You would do better to go with newer technology than the older. That particlular Xeon (the 5472) was, from what I've read, not that much better in general terms than the standard Quad Core chips. |
Unfortunatly is what my friends gave me!No options to change
:( |
If your friend gave it to you, then you got a great deal! Wow!
Are you saying you got it for free? Sounds great, especially the SAS drives, excellent! |
I wish it was mine.I'm starting a collaboration with them and they have just purchased this pc (that here in EU is very expensive).I wanted suggestions about partitioning and how to configure theese hard discs. They told me that shoul be a Bomb with SV8 but i haven't tryed yet.
Thx |
Marcus, I understand.
First, you do not need to partition anything. Use 1st hard drive for Windows and use your other discs as storage or video drives. It depends on your workflow also. You need to have a workflow in mind before deciding how to use your drives. The main thing is one drive for windows, one drive for video, and one for backup. I'm not familiar with RAID 5, so I don't know what how you might use it. |
Thank you my friend, and have a nice weekend!
