filmlook and Vegas 5.0

Will the Filmlook plugin work with Vegas 5.0, and if so, will it still be necessary with the Magic Bullet Movie Looks, or are these two products distinctly different?

If filmlook is not compatible with Vegas 5.0, will a revision be forthcoming?

Thanks,

Brian

It will work with Vegas 5 IF you make one small modification.

In Windows Explorer, right-click the filmlook.js file and choose Edit. Towards the top, look for "SonicFoundry.Vegas" and change that to read "Sony.Vegas". After that change it will work in Vegas 5 (but NOT Vegas 4).

Magic Bullet is something totally different.

This may not be proper of me to ask this here, but I tried to install the RC3 filmlook plugin on a fresh install of XP with VV5 only installed (no VV4). I get a small warning dialog box with "Test!" in it. I hit ok and it goes to the finish screen of the RC3 filmlook installer. It tells me that it was not installed, aborted early or something like that. Any ideas?

I saw that once during testing and Dave told me what caused it but I don't remember now. May have to do with the fact that it's looking for the Vegas 4 install location for installing the "looks" and can't find it since you're on Vegas 5 now.

Thanks Edward! I had a feeling that it was due to VV4 not being installed.

RC3 Troubleshooting

Edward,

Any plans to put together a Filmlook troubleshooting guide, or checklist for potential settings mistakes to avoid?

I think I need a "Filmlook for Dummies" book to make this work properly.

Some of my rendered files either playback wildly erratic, like player cannot handle the 24P, or the widescreen appears compressed, and some files output to a black screen completely.

I am hoping there is an easy fix.

Any thoughts?

Brian

The script is totally based on Spot's film look tutoral. It's available at the Sundance site.

Edward,

Thanks, I have Spot's excellent article, but I must have my settings set incorrectly somewhere in the pipeline.

I'll review the article again.
