Vegas Not Reading TIF file

Hi,
I'm making a video for a client and they sent me a logo as a .PSD file. I'm saving it as a TIF and so that it has the transparent backround. When I take from my desktop to vegas timeline it says "none of these files dropped on Vegas pro could be opened." I had thought Vegas can use TIF files and have done it before but now for the life of me can not get it to work. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

png files also support transparency, but I forget which version, 8 bit or 24 bit, etc, but when I need transparency I personally use png files.

Jeff is right about saving it as a PNG.
As to why it won't open in Vegas, make sure it's an RGB image and not CMYK (what most printers use) as this will give the kind of error you're getting.
And yes, Vegas can open TIF files.

Yes, Mike helped me with a CMKY image, that was the issue I had also.

I thought it was you Jeff but I wasn't 100% positive so I didn't say anything :-)

Also, TIF requires QuickTime. So make sure Quicktime is properly installed as well if you wish to use Tif.

Ed, what does "properly installed" mean? I have QT Pro 7 installed in my computer which works on all my other apps, but I can never export a QT from Vegas. I can read all the available codecs and settings but when it comes to "save" all I get is a flash and a small *.sfl file.

When installing, you MUST install the "authoring components". That used to require a "Custom" setup so you could manually pick that option. I thought it was included automatically in more recent versions.

Thanks, Ed. I upgraded to 7.6.2 to no avail; the situation remains the same. Any other ideas? There was no opffer for Custom setup so I just followed all the pointers of which there were really not too many.
