For an in-depth examination of the relative merits of LCD, Plasma, and CRT monitors, check out the series "Display Technology Shoot-out" at ExtremeTech:
Part I: The Primary Specs Part II: Gray-Scale and Color Accuracy. (Parts III & IV yet to come.) The series examines objective and subjective measures of performance (black level, brightness, contrast, color fidelity) of the three technologies and explains why each one is important. They examine top-end gear, but the information can be applied to cheaper models. (Basically: CRT's are still the best choice for the blackest blacks and the highest color fidelity. Certain high-contrast images--white text on a black background or vice versa--may not work as well on CRT's as other technologies. And: viewing environment makes a huge difference.) Michael |
Little off topic, but how do you guys arrange your window with dual monitors?
