What does this mean? Was there a typo or something?

"Just make the image look nicer:
The #1 thing you can do is to add the curves filter and make it look like a s (just mildly). This increases contrast and makes your video look sweet (most of the time)."


So what does "make it look like a s(just mildly)" mean?

Was that link for me? Hmmm, still do not know what you mean by "make it look like a s(just mildly)".

scroll down to the part about gamma.

You want to make the gamma curve look like an "s" like in the diagram.

Yep , great example from Glenn.

I found out though that be dropping a point right uin the middle of the curve and make an S that is sideways (you can do that by the tangent to the right of the new point downward ) achieves the level of gamma correction that I wanted . Of course I am talking about my newly finished project which was shot in the dark .

Maybe this trick will not apply to other type of shootings though.

Yes.

Convert your video into an image sequence (Quicktime Pro does this; RAD Video Tools, shareware, may also do it for a lower price). Use batch actions/processing in Photoshop. Convert image sequence back into video.
