This is AWESOME !!!

You guys are AWESOME !!!!

There is so much to learn , it's staggering but not overwhelming :)

Well Glenn , looks like I have a couple of hours of fun in front of me

Thank you so much for this feedback

Greg Jacobson February 3rd, 2005 05:24 PM

Glenn,

What does this mean? Was there a typo or something?

"Just make the image look nicer:
The #1 thing you can do is to add the curves filter and make it look like a s (just mildly). This increases contrast and makes your video look sweet (most of the time)."

So what does "make it look like a s(just mildly)" mean?

Thanks,

Greg

Sorry.

The following website explains it well:

Glenn,

Was that link for me? Hmmm, still do not know what you mean by "make it look like a s(just mildly)".

Glenn Chan February 3rd, 2005 08:36 PM

scroll down to the part about gamma.

You want to make the gamma curve look like an "s" like in the diagram.

Philippe Gosselin February 3rd, 2005 09:01 PM

Yep , great example from Glenn.

I found out though that be dropping a point right uin the middle of the curve and make an S that is sideways (you can do that by the tangent to the right of the new point downward ) achieves the level of gamma correction that I wanted . Of course I am talking about my newly finished project which was shot in the dark .

Maybe this trick will not apply to other type of shootings though.

Quoting myself earlier in the thread:

"If anyone cares. . .

I think the easiest way to do the S-curve the color curves plugin is to create a point right in the middle of the diagonal line, and drag the point straight down (or is it up? I think it's down) til it looks good. I used to make three points, and I now see this is silly."

More people should worship and listen to me. Cause I'm awesome, and I rule.

Ok, I will give it a try and let you know if I think you really do "rule". :)

Well I already forgot the reason why I know this tirck is because of Josh...

Sorry Josh , didn't want to steal your fire there :)

Josh Bass February 4th, 2005 01:13 AM

Ah. No problem. My fire's just fine.

I have just a stupid question I think. At the beginning of this thread Glenn Chan said:
"Within Vegas, there are various options.
Satish's Photoshop plug-in plug-in + a PS noise removal tool like Noise Ninja."

What is Satish's Photoshop plug-in plug-in? I can't find anything on google.

Thanks.

Glenn Chan April 25th, 2005 10:10 PM

I think Satish put that plug-in on hold... :(

Oscar Spierenburg April 26th, 2005 05:28 AM

That's too bad, I'll follow the thread to see if he'll pick it up again.

Is there another way (except *.flm files) to use photoshop plug-ins on video?

Glenn Chan April 26th, 2005 05:29 PM

Yes.

Convert your video into an image sequence (Quicktime Pro does this; RAD Video Tools, shareware, may also do it for a lower price). Use batch actions/processing in Photoshop. Convert image sequence back into video.

Oscar Spierenburg April 26th, 2005 06:43 PM

Thanks, I'll try that.
