5.1 surround keyframes don't 'stick'

I have a serious "what the...!" on my hands. Vegas 5;i've set up my project for 5.1 surround mixing, the track headers switch to 5.1 surround mode.

I choose Surround Panner to toggle the display of the Surround Panner window, so i can assign keyframes for varying surround sound situations at different points along the timeline [ie. keyframes]

but! each time i change the 5.1 set up at a new keyframe, all the previous keyframes change as well to the new setting! ie. the whole track is now 5.1 surround acc. to the setting of the last keyframe, all previous keyframes become irrelevent. they don't stick [hold] their assigned surround.

Vegas 4 does it perfectly, so i'm still using 4.0 for the 5.1 audio tracks of my vids.

help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add Surround Envelope to the audio track first. Common mistake.
Good luck.

.

i did that, doesn't work. each new framekey changes the setting before that to the new setting [and for all previous keys]

OK, let's try one more. There is red star on the audio track header Automation Setting, click on it and check Show Automation Controls.

Vol 2 #4 of my newsletters will show you how to do this. It is one of the new features add in Vegas 5.
