Google's WebM video format

I know I kind of disappeared from the video world thanks to shuttering my business, but I am returning to DVInfo to ask if anyone has heard about native Vegas support for Google's new WebM format. EventDV has a quick high level write up about it they just posted.

There isn't any reference on Sony's official site or on the Sony Forums.

There isn't any direct method, with the possible exception of frameserving to a webm encoder. Webm is still pretty dang new, many more announced tools than actual tools.

I did some brief experimenting with this freeware vp8/webm encoder from wildform, it didn't work for me at the time but it might for you.

Also, do check out The WebM Project : The WebM Project : Welcome to the WebM Project if you haven't already.

Thanks for the links Seth. I'll check them out. As someone expecting to publish to the web more frequently I'd obviously love to see my footage not get re-compressed as much as possible, so if Google switches YT to WebM, I'd love to start using from inside Vegas.
