vegas 10d Auto Ripple Bug or not?

Hi,
Has anyone had a problem with auto ripple. I wanted to remove a clip in the middle of the project timeline.
After removal I switched autoripple on and dragged all clips from the right to fill the gap left by the removed clip. No problem I thought, until I checked the end of the timeline, only to find that many of the transitions at the end of my timeline hadn't been moved or were on the wrong clips, anybody had this problem?

Don't know if this is the answer but have you checked the options in the Drop Down Menu next to the Auto Ripple button?

Alternatively it might be a question of enabling/disabling Grouping.

I always leave auto ripple turned OFF. Then I select all the clips right of the cursor and just drag them left. A script can easily select all events right of the cursor (I happen to use Excalibur) and then I know exactly what I'm moving. If I only want to move one track, I'll right-click the first event to move and choose "Select events to end". But I've never seen auto ripple change transitions in the times that I have played with it.

Richard,

I have seen that and it has always been based around grouping!!

I use a shuttle and it is an expedient way to auto ripple or non auto, But I have groupong beside ripple and delete and sometimes I hit it and then I have those problems.

I also use excalibur when I have to be real careful!!!

Hi all,
Thanks for replies
Richard, Yes I have checked the options on the button and use the last one which is supposed to move
everything.
Edward, I normaly leave auto ripple off particularly when deleting clips. But when introducing new clips to
the middle of a project I switch it on as it is supposed to move everything down the timeline automatically.
I have seen this "bug" before in very early versions of vegas, but not noticed it v9 or even the first version of 10.
Dale, thanks for confirming there is a problem, on my particular project I don't have anything grouped.
It's happening on my end titles which of course are generated media consisting of a backdrop on one track
and text being moved in using transition on two tracks. If I move everything with auto ripple some of the transistions either change size, say from 2 seconds to zero, completely messing up the effect. I have also noticed track volume level points will also change position. Which means everytime I do an auto ripple I have to check everything to the right. Will have to do what Ed suggests from now on I think.

The better way to use Auto Ripple is not to drag clips manually, but to use the Delete key to eliminate the space. You can delete the clip directly, or leave ripple off, delete the clip, select the empty space on the timeline, turn the ripple on, and delete the space.

Obviously, this isn't always as simple as that, especially if you have a complex edit around the clip you're trying to delete -- but in most cases where using the ripple is appropriate, it's a best practice.
