Add only the Video in timeline?

..without the audio?

Hi!

There is a way to add only the video by right clicking...but this will popping up dialog boxes.

Is there an easy way to add only the video (and not the audio) of a selected clip to the timeline?

thanks

hank

No, but you can remove the audio after you bring it in to Vegas.

1. bring in video to Vegas timeline.
2. go to toolbar (top of Vegas) and find the "ignore event grouping" button. Click on it.
3. delete audio track.
4 go back to the button and click again to turn off the feature.

Or you can simply left click on the audio clip to highlight it then press Delete. Vegas gives about 100 different ways to do the same thing.

Don, if you don't ignore event grouping the video will be deleted also, won't it? Or do you mean delete the track instead of the actual audio clip?

You can also just select the audio in the timeline and hit "U" which will ungroup the audio from the video, and delete the audio. That way you won't end up forgetting to turn off any global settings that could trip you up later on in your edit.

Wow, Bryan, that is the best way yet. Thanks for sharing that tip!

You can right-click and drag and then choose "Video Only" from the pop-up menu.

You can just add both, click on the audio, and press "U" and then "Delete"

You can open it in the trimmer, select only the video and drag it to the timeline.

If you're using Vegas Pro, you can use a script to add only the video to the timeline.

There's really a LOT of different ways to achieve the same end result.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Edward, what script do you mean?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're doing, but:

if you drag a video into the Trimmer window, then hit Tab, it selects video only. Shift-Tab I believe is audio only.

Your workflow could be:
-Open in Trimmer
-Tab
-A (to add video w/o audio to timeline)

I didn't have a specific script in mind. I'm just saying it COULD be done via a script.

Re: Add only the Video in timeline?

Thank you brian, the easiest way for me now to add video without the audio to the timeline:

Simply select the media in the bin, focus the timeline (cursor or alt-0 (or any other shortcut you made for that)) and press "A"
