additional software
Vegas 11 and Cineform for me has been a headache but as of yesterday I am using 5DtoRGB for an intermediate which can now transcode AVCHD in Windows to Apple ProRez, also Divinci Resolve Lite is now availabe as a PC free download but you need a Nivida card, AMD's won't work.

Re: additional software
Roy, thanks a lot for the post. How is the first software you mention helpful to Vegas users, or do you mention if for the benefit of FCP people?
DaVinci Lite sounds interesting, will check it out! Thanks again! |
Re: additional software
How well does prores preview on the timeline?
For those who missed it, prores decoding (not all flavors, I think), was added to QTPlayer for Windows with QT 7.5 or 7.6. However, there was no PC-based encode... Sounds like now there is. Prores is a pretty dang solid codec for editing and DI work on the mac, but I've always been hesitant on the PC because a Mac to PC workflow adds complications, and QT codecs haven't run too well in Vegas for me. |
Re: additional software
I am using it in Vegas, in ver 11 my previous "go to" codec Cineform has produced too many let downs (black frames). I wrote to Sony support and after a month I got a very unsatisfactory answer. The ProRes codec seems to do very well so far in Vegas and interacts well with the new High Fi mode in the GH2 with the latest firmware. It also works well in Light Works.

Re: additional software
Thanks, Roy. That works. Alas, it demands more information from me than I am willing to give, so I have decided to pass for now. But I do appreciate the link.
