minimal GTX 470 usage on playback/render
Hi folks!
Just wanted to share this and discuss: Today I installed the GPU Meter gadget on my Windows 7 desktop just to see how much of my Nvidia GTX 470 graphics card is being used. I was rather shocked to find that it didn't even touch 10% usage during render or playback of footage from my Canon t2i. The CPU usage however shot up to almost 100% I did the same with Premiere Pro CS5 in view of their Mercury Engine but got the same result. Just for kicks I loaded up Battlefield 3 in window mode to keep an eye on the GPU meter and this time the GPU and the CPU meters both went red hot. So I now know that my GTX 470 and the GPU meter do work. My question is, do we even need a snazzy GPU to run Vegas, shouldn't we spend more on CPU and RAM? Has anyone else got the same result? |

Re: minimal GTX 470 usage on playback/render
Sytem specs are as follows:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz 16GB RAM ASUSTek board P8P67 NVDIA GeForce GTX 470 I'm looking to build another editing system. Wondering whether I should spend on a graphics card at all. I mostly edit footage from my Canon t2i and render it for web streaming. Also, I'm looking to save wherever I can. Any thoughts? |
