Movie Studio is a cut down version of Vegas Pro. There is much speculation on here that Vegas Pro may be nearing the end of its product life, in part driven by the age of its core software and part by developments in competing pro products. It would seem that the consumer market is less sensitive that the pro scene to advances in video editing developments, and more tuned to ease of use and compatibility with current cameras and their CODECS. On that basis, Sony could probably capitalise on Movie Studio's ease of use and keep it alive for a number of years provided that Windows 10 stays relatively stable.
