USB works fine for the hard drive - just make sure the camera is connected via firewire.

As mentioned in the post prior to yours when I completed the first capture I noted the average framerate of the capture was...around 28.9 (can't remember exactly)

Shouldn't that be 29.97 or something similar to that?

I've seen the low average frame rate after capture a few times myself, and have obviously been pretty puzzled. However, I've never had any trouble with captures that have displayed the weird avg. frame rate.

My theory (perhaps a somewhat crackpot one) is that small dropouts and things like that end up having bizarro frame rates, and that these contribute to an average that is slightly off. Anyone have any theories that involve less "crackpotism?" DSE? Mr. Troxel?

My theory is that the programmers decided to take a page from the Microsoft Book of Math. Therefore, nothing really adds up.

In all honesty though, I do believe that the "Average Captured Frame Rate" does take into account dropped frames. Otherwise it would be the actual captured frame rate and not averaged! :)
