Ex-Pro-User needs help configuring external NTSC monitor
Hi,
When I use P-Pro 2.0 I am able to use my 4:3 NTSC monitor via S-Video from my canopus ADCV-100 digital to analog convertor via Fire-wire input. I am also able (via software) to view 16:9 on my NTSC monitor. Under Preferences in Vegas 7.0 (Trial version) I set the Device to IEEE 1394/DV and set conform output to NTSC DV Widescreen. I can't seen to get any signal to the NTSC monitor. It works fine with P-Pro-2. Keep in mind. This is my first time using Vegas. I'm not sure how to even get around the timeline etc. I've loaded a clip and can see it on my PC monitor. However, I can't see it on my NTSC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
Did you click the "External Preview" button just above the preview screen?
|
Edward-
Yes... Just found it. However, the video on the NTSC is choppy. Not too smooth. I need to pick away at getting it to be smooth. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it! |
That can vary depending on settings and the computer/preview settings/clip(s)/Effect(s) used. For example, generally speaking "Preview (Auto)" will be much smoother that "Best (Full)".

After poking around a bit I discovered that my settings did not match my video clip. I was using a 24P clip and the settings were for 29.97.
Just one last question: How come I can't scrub the time line (i.e. hold the left mouse button down and drag like in P-Pro?) Thanks again. I'm looking at the newsletters now. |
You can. Click on the "play head" at the top of the cursor line.
|
Got it. I adjusted the speed (under preferences). I'm use to P-pro scrub. This one tends to be a bit slow. However, you see all the frames vs. a radical scrub.
Thanks again! |
You can also use "JKL" or the playback tool on the left side. Many also like using devices like the Contour Shuttle Pro for shuttling and other purposes.
