Vegas 7 Memory Leak?

Hello.

I use PP2.0 for HDV editing, and thought I would give Vegas 7 a shot.

I really like everything about the program until I render a movie.

I have 1.5GB of RAM in my PC and Vegas uses every last bit of it during a movie encode. After the RAM is used up, it starts using the swap file...yuk!

When the encoding starts, Vegas is running about 15FPS until all of the RAM is gone and then it starts encoding at about 1 frame every 3-4 secs tops.

PP2.0 uses about half of my RAM during an encode, and stays at a steady 15FPS throughout the entire movie.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks!

What is your RAM preview setting?

Set too high, that can lead to system thrashing (sometimes without a significant performance benefit on systems with enough RAM to handle it).

Also, what OS?

Sorry for the late reply.

I just realized that I am only having the issue above when encoding to a WMV file. Encoding in MPEG2 and AVI works fine.

Thanks anyways for the help.
