Is there a method to distort audio in Vegas to create an AM radio effect?

I have Sounde Forge (don't know much about it) , and have searched the web, but haven't found the info on how to create this specific effect.

If I may suggest. If you want to emulate AM radio, you have to get rid of everything above 8 or 9 khz. Next, you might want to tune to an open spot on the AM band (do this during the day) and record some of the random noise and static crashes to mix with the audio if you want to simulate weak signal reception.

The roll-off in frequency is necessary because adjacent channel spacing limits the maximum frequency you can amplitude modulate the carrier wave with. The upper and lower sidebands are the carrier+mod freq and carrier-mod freq respectively.

Don't need the weak effect...I will try eliminating the frequencies you mentioned...thanks!

Eliminating the bass and increasing treble and midrange also helps give it that AM feel as well.

There is an "Analog tape" impulse for Acoustic Mirror that works really well for giving a bit of that boomy warmth to your sound. A tiny bit of distortion on the low end (easiest to do in a multi-track like Vegas) topped off with a bit of phasing can help.
