Issue with German text in Vegas
 

I'm working on a project where I need to add a text slide that is in German. I'm cutting and pasting from and Excel spreadsheet where the text has been translated. I've done this exact thing in many other languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Thai) in the same project with no issues.

But this time, everything comes across fine, with the exception of the German quotation marks. The start quote (which looks like an upsidedown version of English quotation marks) shows up fine, but no matter what I do, it will not show up in the same style as the end quotation (which looks exactly the same as the English end quote). It's as if the first quotation mark was in Times New Roman, and the end quote in Comic Sans. (But changing the fonts doesn't fix the problem.)

I've also noticed in the past with Vegas that sometimes when I cut and paste into text, it skips apostrophes. (It's, when pasted over, shows as Its.) I don't know if these issues are related...but I am stumped!

Has anyone encountered and resolved this issue before? I'm out of ideas...
