Blur or double imaging problem
 

I am having a real problem with Vegas taking clean video and adding double images and blurring in the finished version when things move quickly across the screen.

The double imaging is very visible in the finished product.

Sounds like you're doing one of three things;
1. Converting upper field to lower field
2. Pan/Cropping existing video
3. Converting Progressive to Interlaced

There is also "4" where you might be monitoring interlaced media on a progressive monitor, you need to know where your final product will be displayed.

Which of the above are you doing, and it'll be easier to track down the remedy.

I tried what you suggested and it didn't fix the problem. I knew that if you didn't nail it, I hadn't given you enough information. Your answer made me go look at the problem in greater detail.

The video was a screen capture from Camtasia. It was originally 15 FPS and I was converting it to 24 FPS. Changing it back to 15 corrected the problem.

Hey DSE, Thanks for all the time and help you provide here, it is extremely valuable to all of us. My question is: I shoot 1080 60i HDV. Project settings are 1440x1080x60i HDV, upper field first, pixel 1.33. Outputing to DVD I see no improvement in making it upper vs lower field first.
If I capture with cineform and have it convert to progressive, the results are cleaner (less stair step artifact), but motion blur gets to be a bit much with any kind of motion. Output from Vegas as DVD architect file at 1080x24p, and watching the resultant DVD. I've tested this with both a Sony ES9000 DVD player and a Sony G90 CRT projector, and a cheap DVD player on a Pioneer Plasma. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong? Thanks - PK
