Sorry if this is in the wrong forum...

My questions are regarding interlacing/deinterlacing and why I always have to reduce interlace flicker on all of my video.
If I render out of my NLE (vegas 6) and do not reduce interlace flicker, then any movement looks 'jerky'.
Why is this?

Should I be deinterlacing first if my target medium is PAL DVD?

Please give us some more information:

1. with what is your footage recorded? Was this shot in interlaced, progessive or faux progressive (frame mode)?

2. what are your project settingts in Vegas?

3. to what format where you exporting with what settings?

4. on what kind of system (computer [if so, what player] or standalone dvd player for example) where you watching this?

the footage is shot on a PDX10P, captured in to vegas 6 pal dv mode, cut and either rendered out to avi or mpeg2
but it is most noticable when I capture something off a vhs tape (like what you get when using stills) via a canopus dvstorm2 card
settings for rendering are the highest quality avi or pal mpeg 2

playback is on a standard pal standalone dvd player
