Guys i wanted to hear your thoughts about the nikon d7100 for video. I thought the 25p was a big improvement but never heard about your overall opinions. I remeber when first came the d7000 everybody was writing stuff....

thanks

I have a D7100 and love the camera. But so far I have mainly used it for stills. I have used it for a few individual video shots (in 24p 1080p) and it has performed well.

I also have a D7000; the ergonomics of the D7100 are improved in subtle but significant ways. For example, Nikon has moved the video record button to the top of the camera (from the back on the D7000) which seems a better location.

I have a few legacy Nikon lenses that I like to use for video. But I typically use them with my Sony NEX because of the excellent focus peaking. The D7100 would benefit greatly from focus peaking.

For me the major hangup on D7100 as I understnad is not being able to control exposure in real time once you've hit the record button.

I mostly do weddings and this is one of the reasons why I've stayed away from DSLRs for event video.

The D800 allows exposure control once recording has started, as I understand it.

I'm currently have a Nikon D90 and am holding out a while longer before upgrading.... guessing the D400 will come which will be somewhat of a D800 equivalent (or better) than the D800 in terms of video capabilities.
