Power switch is broken

The switch when pulled back will activate Play(VCR).

But when pushed forward it will not active Camera.

I feels very rough when it moves.

I am sure it is just worn out from heavy use.

Is there a procedure for me to fix it?

NOTE: My GL2 had the rocker arm problem. I got the information and the technique on how to fix it from this forum.

I am hoping that someone could help me with the same type info:
Example:

How to order the necessary parts (including part numbers) from Canon
Diagrams or maybe a video on how to access the broken part inside the camera and how to attach the new parts

thanks

john

Have you checked that the Standby switch is not engaged?
If it is, the camera will work only as you describe. (VCR only)

The standby switch is properly engaged. ( I have made that mistake sooo many times - so it is a good question to ask.)

I am referring to my GL-2

On the GL1 the power switch is part of the so called "Camera Key Ass'y, 2" that includes the filter, focus, Exposure and D.E. controls and is mounted in the Right Cover assembly.

However, judging from the owners manual, the GL2 would be different.

Sorry, can't help more.
